The
TURINA farm is part of an important project of merging and
rehabilitation of small hill plots, built over the years by Bruna and
Cesare.
The goal was reached with an large plant of actinidia ( or more commonly knows as KIWI), which has about three thousand plants with BIO certified production. The kiwi plant is a species originating in China. It was Mr. Hayward (hence the name of the variety best known) to create a new graft and to import it in New Zealand, eventually became the largest producer in the world. Since the early '60s there were the first significant investment in Italy (particularly in Piemonte), where in 2006 the production exceeded that of New Zealand. Rich in fibre, the Kiwi fruit its characteristic green colour is medium caloric: the vitamin C content is higher than that of oranges, lemons and grapefruit. It has diuretic properties, thirst-quenching, refreshing and depurative and encourages the natural defences of the body. CURIOSITY: the kiwi plant is dioecious, that is with trees that have only female flowers (produce seeds) and others only male flowers (produce pollen). To be able to obtain fruits, you must cultivate plants both "female" and "male". |
